Love Island's Jay reveals separate kitchen area which is hidden away from viewers

Love Islander Jay Younger has revealed that the contestants have a hidden ‘tuck shop’ in the villa.

The Scottish star has said that there is a hidden section in the kitchen that isn’t shown to the viewers, which is full of snacks and treats for the islanders to much on.

Jay spoke to Digital Spy after his recent elimination and spilled all on the eating habits from inside the villa.

He said: “I’m not sure if the viewers know that there is a big cupboard of food behind the kitchen. So, if you’re really hungry at night, all you need to do is knock on that door, ask for what you want and it’s given to you.”

He was prompted by the interviewer to confirm whether it was “like a tuck shop,” to which Jay responded: “Literally, whatever food you want it’s on tap there.”

“For me, it was chocolate rice cakes. I absolutely love them in the evenings, or bowls of cereal. There’s a big cupboard of food in there so if you want it, it’s right there.”

Fellow former Love Island star Coco Lodge has also opened up about the food situation in the villa since she departed the show.

He said that they could ask for anything they wanted

She confirmed that they eat their main meals “off camera” and are kept separate to avoid any potential gossiping.

As mealtimes aren’t recorded, producers want to save the conversations for when they’re back in their usual habitat – whether it be on the day bed, bean bags or on the terrace.

However, Coco said that they “loved to snack” and had “3am toasties every night” after the cameras had shown them tucked up in bed.

Islanders are frequently seen snacking but never at meal times

Head chef Ferenc is in charge of all the food prepared for the islanders and has revealed that he tries to mix it up as much as possible, so as to keep the cast on their toes.

He has said that he prepares “lunch and dinner for everyone” and their favourite is the “burger and ribs”.

Ferenc launched “meat free Mondays” last year but according to the chef, “people weren’t really happy with that”.

Despite the complaints, he brought it back for this year’s lineup and he confirmed that they are overall happy with the decision.
