Loose Women star Kaye Adams has opened up about her “shock” after being told she requires hearing aids.

Kaye was told she was losing her hearing in both of her ears, with one being worse than the other.

Her left ear had a natural deterioration but the right had a problem that had stopped the sound from going into her inner ear.

In a series of posts to her Instagram stories, Kaye showed the process of getting her hearing aids fitted.

She wrote: “Never thought I’d say I enjoyed an ear test, but @ferazashraf made it easy and painless.

“Have to admit, though, this diagnosis was a shock, though.”

When she showed the moment her hearing aids were put into her ears, she wrote: “Now you see it… now you don’t!”

Kaye opened up about the diagnosis with her co-stars: Katie Piper, Carol McGiffin, and Sunetra Sarker.

She said: “For around five-ish years, maybe more, I have been aware that I’ve been struggling but you just make excuses.

“But as time has gone on, then I realised I’m missing more and more.

“Now I’m a standing joke with my children, who just won’t repeat things anymore, they are impatient with me.

“Although you laugh that off, it is now beginning to get to me because, I think, I’m really missing things and I don’t want to be a standing joke.”

It comes after the television presenter insisted she was ten years younger to daughter Charley, 20, only revealing the truth when Charley was 12 years old.

She told the Mirror: “It’s pathetic, but I lopped off ten years and merrily lied away, including a fake date of birth which I had off pat.

“By the time she got to around 12, I was beginning to feel uncomfortable, so I broke the truth to her in a coffee shop, which was a lot more traumatic than I thought it would be.”

*Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITVHub.
