RHOC's Lara Besbrode only had suitcase to her name before landing part in show

Lara Besbrode moved back to the UK from Germany back in 2014, utterly broke.

The Real Housewives of Cheshire star had no cash, nowhere to live and all her worldly possessions were packed into just one suitcase.

The mum-of-three left behind her marriage and decided to head to Manchester in 2019 to rebuild her life.

With nothing to lose, Lara went to charity shops and appealed for help on Facebook to get her back on her feet.

She lost her “mental health, her business and her finances” following her international divorce but out of sheer determination to provide for her kids has managed to claw back success.

Lara said: “I decided that I was going to rebuild my life after it was smashed into smithereens.

“My mental health basically collapsed. I literally lost everything and went back to square one.”

She made the brave move of deciding to retrain as a professional matchmaker and told the Manchester Evening News: “There was so much unhappiness in my life. In the midst of menopause and all the horrors in my life, I would train and become a matchmaker.”

“We’ve grown and grown and grown from having a Manchester office to a London office.”

Lara, 54, added: “I’m a Manchester single mum success story.”

In another gripping twist, Lara said she almost lost her daughter during the Manchester Arena bombing.

In 2017 a terrorist set off a bomb after an Ariana Grande concert, killing 22 and injuring more than a thousand people.

Lara said that her daughter suffers from PTSD after missing the bomb “by minutes”.

She went on: “She stopped to take a selfie by the toilet block and missed the bomb by two minutes.

“Had she not taken that selfie, she would be dead. I’m very blessed to have her.”

As well as her successful business, Lara is one of the stars of ITV’s Real Housewives of Cheshire, which recently celebrated its 150th episode.

Lara added: “I rebuilt my life and rebuilt my career. I’ve gone through an international divorce and got my three children through school, raised them alone for eight years and have two kids in university.

“I’m proud to say I’ve done this all by myself.”
