Love Island's Gemma and Luca split fears as they 'struggle to admit true feelings'

Love Island stars Gemma Owen and Luca Bish may not last the distance due to the “unhealthy dismissiveness” between them, a relationship expert has claimed.

The eight series of the popular dating show finally came to an end on Monday night (Aug 1) with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti being crowned as this year’s winners.

But as viewers become accustomed to filling their 9pm void, relationship expert Massimo Stocchi-Fontana has shared his thoughts on the finalists whose relationships will last outside the famous villa of love.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Massimo believes there could be trouble for Gemma and Luca in the real world.

The expert said: “There is an unhealthy dismissiveness and almost uncaring sense that plays out between them.

“This is not a relational style that fairs well for anyone.

“It provokes insecurity and breeds possessiveness and jealousy which is already present at such an early stage.”

He continued: “Both (Gemma and Luca) provoke such a deep anxiety in the other that you can see a clear discomfort in their presence together.

“The dynamic seems that they are always trying to prove each other wrong and correct the way they are communicating, leaving the observer with a sense of ‘I don’t feel good enough for you’.

“They have a very argumentative style of communicating and very defensive in nature.”

The expert also shared that neither Gemma or Luca find it hard to “admit” their true desire for one another.

He continued: “There is a real feel of holding a grudge within the relationship and when it gets to speaking about serious feelings for one another, neither wants to admit that they truly desire the other.

“Their body language is the most clearly defensive. Luca always hiding behind his hand, while Gemma always looking away and focusing on everything else except the man that is in front of her trying to share his emotions.

“The dismissiveness of Gemma towards Luca will lead to him to feel emasculated and his love for her will only become torturous,” Massimo explained.
