Coronation Street star shares how she shed 9st in incredible weight loss transformation

Coronation Street newcomer Jodie Prenger has opened up about her 9st weight loss – and why she now “refuses to beat herself up about her weight.”

Jodie, who recently joined the ITV soap as Glenda Shuttleworth, rose to fame after winning BBC talent series I’d Do Anything – going on to play the role of Nancy in West End hit Oliver!

However, she also had a stint on reality TV series The Biggest Loser and has since opened up about her weight loss journey on the programme – which saw her lose over 9st.

She said: “Because I worked at night, I’d sit around in the day and make a sandwich for something to do.

“I couldn’t cook, so I’d eat in restaurants all the time and then after gigs I’d have a KFC or a cheese sandwich. I knew it was wrong, but it fed my hunger.”

Speaking to The Sun, Jodie also revealed that she enjoyed exercising with other participants on the show, adding: “I enjoyed the process because we did it as a group.

“But it wasn’t realistic because they put you in a house and you did nothing else but that, so when real life comes in again, it’s not sustainable.”

After the show finished, the 5ft 3in star found she was exercising three hours a day to maintain her slimmer figure – and has since admitted that she wants to enjoy herself instead of “beating herself up about her weight.”

Jodie explained to Daily Star: “I found it hard to keep weight off, and it’s never helped that I am partial to a cheeseboard and a bottle of Prosecco.

“The main thing now is that I do enjoy myself and refuse to beat myself up about my weight.

“Size 10-12 just wasn’t sustainable. Besides, I’d gotten too skinny. I was happy to regain a couple of stone and get some curves back.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
