James May was reportedly rushed to hospital after crashing a car into a wall at 75mph when a challenge went wrong.
The Grand Tour presenter, 59, was left needing a brain scan and broke a rib before getting the all-clear from medics.
He’d been filming for the Amazon Prime show with co-stars Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond when the horror crash happened, The Sun report.

The hosts were taking it in turns along a tunnel at a Norwegian naval base.
The tunnel’s lights came on as they were already speeding which gave them all three just seconds to react as they ran out of space.
However, James is thought to have braked too late as he was travelling at 75mph and hit a wall.
He had to be helped out of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 by paramedics and was covered in blood.
His other two co-hosts carried on with the tour on their Arctic Circle trip without him.
This isn’t the first time one of them have had a big accident – with Richard Hammond coming close to death in 2006.
Richard crashed his 88mph jet-powered car while filming content for the BBC’s Top Gear.
May’s new show will be released later this year as part of a new Grand Tour special.
The accident happened at the decommissioned Olavsvern naval base near the city of Tromsø.
A source told The Sun: “It looked extremely worrying at first. Jeremy and Richard were concerned about their mate and the paramedics swooped in quickly.
“As ever on a shoot of this scale, medical staff are waiting in the wings in case — as they did here — things go horribly wrong.
“James smashed his head quite hard in the impact, and was bloodied by it. He was complaining about pain in his back and neck.”
The insider also explained how Jeremy and Richard were forced to carry on leave him in hospital and carry on with the trip.
However, he was able to join the troops again once given the all-clear “a day or so later.”
