Music megastar Madonna’s relationships are just as famous as the pop star’s incredible music.
From her marriages to Hollywood actors and iconic film directors, to dating professional dancers and personal trainers, Madonna has led a very interesting love life since bursting onto the music scene in the eighties.
There have also been rumours of previous relationships too with stars including Michael Jackson, Vanilla Ice and Tupac Shakur, as well as brief connections to stars including baseball player Alex Rodriguez and John F Kennedy Jnr.

As Madonna turns 64 years old, Daily Star takes a closer look inside her love life.
Sean Penn
Although one of Madonna’s most famous relationships was her marriage to Guy Ritchie, the singer was married once before to Hollywood star Sean Penn.
The couple met on the set of Madonna’s Material Girl video and later married in 1985 – with their relationship lasting more than four years until their divorce in 1989.
During this time, some outlets reported that Sean had been abusive towards the singer, but Madonna slammed these claims in 2018 when she supported Sean in a defamation case against Empire co-creator Lee Daniels, who had referenced these allegations during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
She said in a statement: “Sean has never struck me, ‘tied me up’ or physically assaulted me, and any report to the contrary is completely outrageous, malicious, reckless and false.”
Sean Penn has since revealed that he still loves the singer, saying on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: “Ah, I love my first wife very much. There’s no [comparison]… you don’t compare those things.”
It seems the feelings are reciprocated too, as Daily Mail reported that Madonna addressed her ex-husband onstage during a fundraising event, saying: “I’m still in love with you. Yes. In fact, I think I love you more now that we’re divorced.”
Warren Beatty
Madonna not only landed a role in 1991 comic book film Dick Tracy – but she also landed the heart of actor and director Warren Beatty too.
Warren played the titular role, while Madonna played a seductive lounge singer called Breathless Mahoney.
As well as Dick Tracey, the couple also starred in her documentary Truth Or Dare, which Warren admitted to People Magazine that he did not want to be in at first.
However, their romance only lasted 15 months, with the couple reported to have conflicting views on living their lives in the public eye.
In the years since, Madonna has gushed about Warren during an interview with Howard Stern on Sirius XM, saying: “Yes, he was [an incredible lover]. I’m not going to lie.”
Warren also gushed about Madonna in People Magazine, saying: “She’s a huge personality, diligent and disciplined and a spectacular dancer and performer. She’s a phenomenon.”
Carlos Leon
During the early nineties, Madonna fell in love with personal trainer Carlos Leon – who she dated between 1994 and 1997.
Their romance also saw the couple welcome a daughter called Lourdes Leon, who has since followed in her mother’s footsteps into the limelight as a model for designers including Stella McCartney.
Although Carlos and Madonna split just three years into their relationship, the couple are reported to have stayed close friends with one another.
Carlos told the Billy Bush Show: “There was a friendship and there still is a friendship.
“If she needs to talk to me I’m there and if I need to talk to her she’s there.”
Carlos also revealed to People Magazine that the best part of his relationship with Madonna was daughter Lourdes, saying: “I have no regrets. I wouldn’t change anything.
“I got the best thing out of that relationship, and that is my daughter. My daughter is everything to me.”
Guy Ritchie
One of Madonna’s most famous relationships was with Rock ‘n’ Rolla and The Gentlemen director Guy Ritchie.
In 1999, the couple were introduced to each other by none other than Sting’s wife Trudie Styler during a dinner party at their home.
Sparks flew between the pair and Madonna soon moved to England to be with Guy, with the couple marrying one year later in 2000.
During their marriage, the couple welcomed a son called Rocco Ritchie, and adopted David Banda.
However, they divorced in 2008, with Madonna telling Daily Mail: “When you start off, everything’s great and lovely, and the person you’ve married is flawless, and you’re flawless.
“Then time goes by, and you share a life, you have children, and there are cracks in the veneer. It’s not as romantic as it used to be.
“You think, ‘This isn’t what I thought it was going to be,’ and ‘How much am I willing to sacrifice?”
Guy Ritchie also opened up about their divorce too in an interview with The Mirror, claiming that the “fun” had gone out of their marriage.
He said: “I’m afraid the laughs in our life together were long gone,” adding: “I just wanted a regular husband and wife thing – not least for the sake of the kids.
“But it was always a great song and dance just to do ordinary stuff.”
Following their divorce, it was reported in 2015 that Madonna was headed to court in December 2015 when it was revealed that Rocco had been living in London alongside his dad and wanted to stay.
Madonna and Guy settled the custody matter between them privately, with Rocco remaining in England and reported to still have a good relationship with his mum.
Jesus Luz
Madonna dated Brazilian model Jesus Luz for over two years between 2008 and 2010, after the couple met at a photoshoot for W Magazine.
It was the first romance for the star since her divorce from Guy Ritchie – meaning that the relationship also garnered a lot of attention from the media too.
However, the couple split in 2010, with a source telling the Chicago Sun-Times that the split was a mutual decision due to there being a lack of mutual interests between them.
They said: “It was not only totally amicable, but it was Luz who initiated the split.”
Brahim Zaibat
In 2010, Madonna began a relationship with dancer and choreographer Brahim Zaibat.
The couple are reported to have first met when Brahim was a dancer at the launch of her Material Girl clothing collection at Macy’s – with the two hitting it off immediately.
They dated between 2010 to 2013, with Brahim also appearing as a dancer on Madonna’s MDNA World Tour in 2012.
The couple also went Met Gala Official in 2013, with the two turning up in stylish outfits including Madonna’s punk inspired ensemble, complete with fish net tights and thigh high boots, and Brahim wearing a hunky two-piece suit and silk shirt combo.
However in the same year, the couple decided to split, citing clashing work commitments as the reason.
Ahlamalik Williams
Madonna began dating another of her back-up dancers, Ahlamalik Williams, in 2018.
The couple met in 2015, before becoming official three years later – with pair tending to keep their relationship away from the limelight.
During this time, Ahlamalik also performed on Madonna’s Madame X tour in 2019.
However earlier this year, it was reported that the couple had split up, with a source telling The Sun: “Madonna has thrown herself into a busy social life and has been seeing her friends and family after the split.”
The source revealed that despite there being a “lot of love” between Madonna and Ahlamalik, the couple had “decided to separate”.
