India Willoughby addresses ‘uncomfortable’ trans feud with GB News star Dan Wootton

India Willoughby has opened up on her feud with GB News star Dan Wootton in a candid tweet.

The star was fuming at being introduced as “transgender broadcaster India Willoughby” while appearing on the show, and admitted she fired back at Dan, leaving him “uncomfortable”.

India, who works as a newsreader on Channel 5 as well as appearing on shows like Loose Women and Celebrity Big Brother, took to her social media to share the encounter.

She wrote: “Dan Wootton once introduced me on GB News as ‘transgender broadcaster India Willoughby’.

“I replied ‘It’s great to be on gay presenter Dan Wootton’s show.’

“The way he flinched – I reckon he still feels uncomfortable about it.”

Plenty of fans rushed to support India, with one penning: “Perfect response. I would have made issue on camera about how rude he was.”

Another posted: “I guarantee you, if you go ‘cisgender presenter’ they’ll actually lose it!”, as a third followed up: “I’d feel uncomfortable about being a presenter on GB News too, to be fair.”

However, others were more than baffled by India’s offence, as they noted that the first line in her Twitter bio reads “World’s 1st trans newsreader”.

One baffled fan replied: “It’s in your Twitter bio. How can you complain about that? [Clown emoji].”

Another echoed: “You have put it in your Twitter profile as the second thing introducing yourself…”, as someone else posted: “But that’s the first line of your bio!!”

It comes after India slammed the channel at length, explaining to PinkNews: “I was really disappointed in the first week when I saw they were demonising trans people at every opportunity.

“I told Dan that I was sick to the teeth of all the anti-trans stuff. The fact that they weren’t giving people a fair crack of the whip, that it was all negative, trans people were portrayed as dangerous.

“I don’t want any part of it. So I’m quitting. It’s GB for ‘goodbye from me’.”

India originally appeared on the channel as she’s a fan of “debates”, with “right of centre” political views – but was soon turned off the right-wing channel.
