Director Tim Burton, who rose to fame for his original and quirky movie style, is celebrating his 64th birthday today (August 25).
The star has an outstanding list when it comes to movies that he has directed, including Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).
More recently, the American filmmaker has been working on new Netflix series, Wednesday, which is based on the character from The Addams Family.
Throughout his directing career, Tim has worked with some big Hollywood names including Johnny Depp, Lisa Marie Smith and Helena Bonham Carter, who he later had a long-term relationship with.

How did Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter meet?

The director met actress Helena on the film set of Planet of the Apes back in 2001 and they soon began their romantic relationship.
The Harry Potter actress was previously married to actor and director Kenneth Branagh, but they filed for divorce in 1999.
When the director and actress met, Tim was allegedly still in a long-term relationship with actress Lisa Marie who also had a role in Planet of the Apes.
The director then ended his relationship, with Lisa Marie later suing her ex for palimony, claiming he had “promised to support her for the rest of her life.” A court case was settled between the pair in 2008.

Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter were together for 13 years, but didn’t tie the knot.
Helena previously told The Guardian that the couple “never felt the need” to marry.
The couple also did not necessarily live together during their relationship.
The pair lived in adjacent houses in Hampstead, London, that were “welded together” with a single corridor linking the two.
Helena added: “His side is messier. My side is cutesy, Beatrix Potter, which is fine for him to visit but there’s no way that he could live in it. He thinks his side is James Bond.”
While the idea may seem strange to some, Helena added at the time: “There is no normality in life. Having two houses means that we can get out of each other’s hair – which, let’s face it, we’ve both got a lot of.”
How many children do Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter have together?
Tim and Helena share two children together – Billy Raymond Burton, aged 18, and Nell Burton, aged 14.
Although generally staying out of the spotlight, the Burton kids have secretly starred in some of their dad’s movies, with Billy starring as a Baby in Stroller in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Nell starring as a Baby at Dock in Alice in Wonderland.
Why did Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter split?
In December 2014, the couple announced via a statement that they had amicably split after 13 years together.
The statement read: “Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children.
“We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time.”
Helena told Harper’s Bazaar in 2016 that in the aftermath of the break up, she went through a period of depression as she stated that the relationship breakdown felt like divorce.
She said: “With divorce, you go through massive grief — it is a death of a relationship, so it’s utterly bewildering. Your identity, everything, changes.
“Everyone always says you have to be strong and have a stiff upper lip, but it’s okay to be fragile.”
