Josie Gibson 'pushed out of her comfort zone' by This Morning co-star Alison Hammond

Josie Gibson has revealed how Alison Hammond helped her whilst hosting for the first time on This Morning.

The former Big Brother star has regularly hosted the show for over three and a half years, filling in for the main presenting team several times since 2019.

But it appears that Josie, 37, has a lot to thank pal Alison, 47, for when it comes to appearing on the ITV programme.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Josie explained: “I get really nervous, and I would not have been able to do that show if it wasn’t for Alison… and Holly [Willoughby].

“But when I used to go in the studios, Alison would say to me, ‘when I do a demo you need to hear the whole gallery, just in case you ever get the call and you know what it’s like.'”

She added: “So Alison used to push me really out of my comfort zone, and because she did that, I was able to fill in that day with Phil, because if I hadn’t had got all those tricks and tips of Alison telling me about everything. I would have never been able to do it.”

It comes after Josie previously revealed she suffers from imposter syndrome whilst presenting on the show.

The presenter – who recently stood in for co-stars Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby over summer – told PA Media: “I get nervous all the time and it’s three-and-a-half years along the line and I still get nervous to this day.

“Now and again, I’ve got to give myself a little talking to – because I sometimes get imposter syndrome – ‘What am I doing here? How did this happen? How did I get myself into this?’ Alison always says everyone deserves to be there.”

Josie continued that she “wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for them”, and claimed that her west-country roots have helped her in the job.

She explained: “I’m quite nosey and I’m from a small town, so I think that helps when it comes to speaking with guests.

“Never in a million years did I think I’d be doing something like this. But I can’t wait – I love working at This Morning so much, I’ve got the best job ever.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10 am on ITV and ITV Hub.
