BBC Breakfast's Luxmy Gopal steals show as fans beg for her to be permanent host

BBC Breakfast viewers shared their joy at seeing presenter Luxmy Gopal, 29, on their screens as they tuned in on Sunday morning.

As she appeared on the famous red sofa alongside long-term presenter Roger Johnson to present the news of the day, fans rushed to social media to beg for her to be on the show more often.

Luxmy looked gorgeous as she shared the hosting update on her Twitter page, opting for a yellow floral dress which shared a glimpse of her toned legs as she posed with Roger and sports presenter Holly Hamilton.

She wrote: “Good morning sunshine! Happy Bank Holiday Sunday to you.

Luxmy announced she was presenting as she shared a snap with Roger Johnson and Holly Hamilton

“Holly & I are putting Roger’s selfie-arm to good use! Hope you can keep us company on BBC Breakfast.”

They soon begged for Luxmy to be given a permanent presenting position as she stole the show with her latest appearance, with many posting their support on social media.

One posted: “What a breath of fresh air you are, it’s time you had a permanent slot me thinks.”

Another added: “The best Sunday team!! Loving it this morning.”

A third chipped in: “It’s a fantastic Sunday when Luxmy is on the breakfast sofa.”

A fourth agreed: “Lovely dress luxmy, always brighten up my day.”

Usually, Luxmy presents the broadcaster’s Look North program but has occasionally stepped in to host the BBC Breakfast show whenever the show has needed her.

She recently made a return to the sofa after stepping away, and fans were thrilled to see her back as she shared the news on social media.

Luxmy wrote: “First time back on the sofa in a while but thankfully dear @OwainWynEvans & @RogerJ_01 are here to keep me in order!”

BBC rotates presenters on a Sunday, with Roger, Nina Warhorse, Ben Thompson and Katherine Downes usually taking it in turns to host the show.

It airs at weekdays at 6am on BBC.
