Susanna Reid welled up as she gave a moving tribute to her late friend and former co-star Bill Tunbull on Good Morning Britain.
The GMB presenter has been spending time away from her ITV desk during her summer holiday, but she returned to the studio on Friday (September 2) to talk about her late friend Bill.
Beloved broadcaster Bill died aged 66 on Wednesday following his battle with prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2017.

Susanna and Bill worked together on BBC Breakfast for years during his stint 2001 and 2016 and the pair became close pals afterwards, so it’s no surprise she got emotional when speaking about the star’s death.

Susanna admitted she was “knocked sideways” by the tragic news of his passing, dubbing him “delightful company” and recalling how she saw him as a mentor in the journalism world.
She said: “I was knocked sideways by the loss of Bill. I don’t want to sound sombre talking about him. He was delightful company. The first time I met him was more than 25 years ago.
“He would rewrite every script to make sure it was perfect. He wanted the best programme. He threw everything into every show. We did so much together. For him, the most important thing in life was his home, his family, his wife, his dogs and his bees.”

She also said she felt “robbed” as there was only five years between his diagnosis and his death.
The ITV presenter continued: “He lived with his cancer. I think we all feel robbed that there was only five years between his diagnosis and losing him.”
She added: “He was a remarkable person on air and a remarkable person off air.”

Susanna took to Twitter on Thursday with another tribute to Bill, where she told followers she was “heartbroken”.
She wrote: “Bill was the kindest, funniest, most generous man in the business.
“I feel lucky to have worked with him and he taught me everything. But above all, he was devoted to his family and I am heartbroken for them. RIP Bill. We will miss you so much.”
