Laura Whitmore has opened up about how she was not allowed to check in on the mental well-being of Love Island contestants while fronting the show.
The Irish presenter recently announced she would no longer be hosting Love Island, after replacing the late Caroline Flack in 2020.
At the time, Laura said she was only planning on hosting the show for one year.

In a new interview, the 37-year-old said that because she had “no producing role” she was unable to voice any concerns about what was going on with the contestants and that it was “hard”.

The mum-of-one said that she “questions things a lot” and that not being able to talk was “difficult”.
This year, Love Island was dogged with complaints of bullying and misogyny. ITV has vowed to review how the series played out ahead of the next one.
Laura, who is married to Love Island voiceover comic Iain Stirling, also spoke about how tough doing the show was in the first year, so close after losing Caroline.

Caroline took her own life aged 40 in February 2020.
Laura said she was “surviving the trauma of losing someone” and “trying to keep it together” and that doing the show back then was pure “survival”.
It is unclear who will replace Laura but she has plans to star in her own three-part series for ITV called Laura Whitmore Investigates.

Meanwhile it was recently revealed that the Irish presenter had only featured in 13 minutes and 26 seconds worth of Love Island footage in the first four weeks of the show.
According to The Sun, the Love Island presenter was earning a fee of £600,000 to host the dating show.
