GMB's Richard Madeley branded 'baby whisperer' as James Haskell praises father-in-law

Chloe Madeley and James Haskell welcomed their baby girl Bodhi Rae Georgia Haskel in August and have said that they are “besotted” with her.

Chloe spoke to OK! magazine about her traumatic birth and how excited her dad was whilst she was in labour.

Chloe’s husband James has dubbed the Good Morning Britain host as “the baby whisper” and marvelled at his ability to get the baby to “settle.”

Chloe said: “Dad was doing Good Morning Britain and was sat on his phone and looking at his phone in the breaks and updating her [Chloe’s mum] and together they were getting very excited.”

She explained that her dad texted her at 5 o’clock in morning as she was induced the night before asking for any news on the induction and Chloe had to explain that she thought she would have to go for a C-section.

She also said how “comforting” it was that her dad was up so early to get any news.

Chloe continued: “He sits glaring on top of her or just staring at her and he pokes her or touches her for half hour increments and I know that he is trying to wake her up so that he can then pick her up and say she’s awake now.”

James then chipped in: “Do you remember the other night he came in and she wasn’t settling and as soon as he started talking to her she settled like an absolute dream, I would say he is like the baby whisperer.”

Chloe also spoke to OK! about how traumatic her birth was and how it didn’t go according to her plan.

She was planning to have a water birth using just gas and air and instead was rushed to hospital to be induced.

When that didn’t work she was told that she would need an emergency Caesarean and she explained that she felt “terrified” and “not in control of her own body”.

However she also said that she “would do it all again in an instant” after she saw her beautiful baby girl.

Two days after the birth Chloe took to Instagram and wrote: “Forever grateful that even though my childbirth did not go to plan, I was surrounded by compassionate, skilled, knowledgeable and experienced women from start to finish.

“Here is my deepest, most heartfelt thank you to all the midwives out there who pull long shifts, have to make difficult decisions under pressure, have seen a hell of a lot of good and bad, and exercise compassion and reassurance every single day for those under their care.”

James’ wife went on to thank her birth team, writing: “Also to the obstetricians who are exactly where they need to be, exactly when they need to be there, and who manage to see the whole thing through with what seems to be complete ease.

“And @jameshaskell, after I nearly fired you from your post for fear you would be at another DJ gig when I went into labour, you were the DREAM birth partner.

“I couldn’t have wished for anyone better to hold my hand and talk me through everything from start to finish thank you. I love you. We DO make cute babies.”
