Britney Spears' son opted to miss her A-list wedding after family snub

Britney Spear’s son is explaining why he didn’t attend her wedding to Sam Asghari.

In a new interview with 60 Minutes Australia, the star’s oldest son, Jayden James, 15, explains how he and brother Sean Preston, 16, came to the decision not to attend their mum’s star-studded wedding to Sam Asghari in June.

Jayden, who appears in the interview with his father, Kevin Federline, said: “At the time it just wasn’t a good time to go. I’m not saying that I’m not happy for her.

“I’m really happy for them, but she didn’t invite the whole family, and then if it was just going to be me and Preston, I just don’t see how that situation would have ended on good terms.”

At the time, an attorney for Kevin told People the boys didn’t want to take the spotlight from their mother by attending.

The Toxic singer, 40, is currently in a feud with her family over her years-long conservatorship, which ended last year.

Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, along with her younger sister Jamie Lynn and older brother Bryan, did not attend the wedding in June and Britney said that her brother was not invited.

Jayden also stunned fans by adding that Britney’s father, who was vilified for his role in her conservatorship, was only doing what was best for his daughter.

“Everyone is mostly hating him for the conservatorship, but I think at first he was just trying to be like any father,” Jayden said.

“Pursue [his] daughter’s dream of being a superstar and working and going to all these concerts and performing, but I think some people are just ceasing to realize how much he cares about her.”

Hours after the interview was published, Britney replied in a statement on her Instagram, where she sent her son “all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life !!!!”

“My love for my children has no boundaries and it deeply saddens me to know his outcry of saying I wasn’t up to his expectations of a mother … and maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this openly !!!!”

Going on to explain how hard she worked and what she endured to give her children all they have, Britney added, “It’s horrible to see your dad be a hypocrite and say the media is horrible yet has you talking about personal matters to them !!!”
