Louis Tomlinson snubbed by BBC's Ronan Keating with subtle One Direction dig

Louis Tomlinson delighted fans around the world when he made an appearance on BBC’s The One Show – but it didn’t come without a dose of boyband rivalry.

Show host Ronan Keating took a cheeky dig at the former One Direction singer just minutes into the programme on Wednesday night (September 7).

Former Boyzone star Ronan was introducing the world famous singer to the tons of excited viewers at home when he made a subtle joke suggesting he thought Boyzone were better than One Direction.

He then took a shot at Louis as he bravely quipped: “Arguably the second best boyband of all time…”

However, his presenting pal Alex rushed to Louis’ defence and gave him a grilling as she hit back: “Oh, yeah?”

Ronan was quick to backtrack on his joke too, as he admitted: “I’m going to get in trouble for that one!”

It came just after Ronan and Alex said they hoped the show would trend on social media given Louis’ loyal legions of fans who were sure to be watching.

Later on, Louis took questions from fans, including one who asked if he’d be playing guitar at his future shows.

Louis said he was up for the challenge and that he just needed to have the confidence to wield the strings.

Asked how his songwriting ability has progressed since his boyband days, Louis answered: “I feel like you’re always learning as a songwriter.

“Every song you write, you take something new from, you’ve learnt something new from, so I suppose maybe just by age there’s a bit more maturity in the writing.”

Tomlinson’s new album, Faith in the Future, is out November 11th.
