Broadcaster Piers Morgan has paid tribute Her Majesty the Queen – who he says was “the greatest Monarch in history” following her sad passing today, aged 96.
The longest reigning Monarch died at Balmoral in Scotland on Thursday afternoon (September 8), with journalists and celebrities paying tribute.
Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan was among the first to pay tribute to Her Majesty.

Taking to Twitter to announce the breaking news and pay tribute to the Queen who served the country for seven decades, Piers penned: “RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 96. The greatest Monarch in history, and the greatest of Britons.
“Dignified, humble, wise, stoic, and dedicated to duty & service to the country she loved. Thank you for everything, Ma’am. We will be forever indebted to you,” the controversial journalist and TV personality concluded.
Followers of the TalkTV Uncensored host were quick to comment on his touching tweet, with many paying their respects to the late Queen.
“Very sad news. RIP. God Save The King,” penned one underneath.
Another added: “Absolutely heartbroken & in tears. Can’t believe she’s gone. What an amazing woman she was. The most stoic stalwart there ever was. She had plenty to complain about but never did. True legend. RIP your Majesty the country is a sadder place for your loss.”
Earlier today Piers paid tribute after the news of Her Majesty’s ill-health broke.

Taking to Twitter after changing his profile photo to a snap of him and the Queen years prior, Piers penned a touching note which read: “I can’t even imagine Britain without this Queen. Very unsettling day.”
Earlier today a Royal spokesman said: “Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.
“The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
Her Majesty’s four children all travelled to Balmoral, with the Duke of Cambridge flying to Aberdeenshire as well as his brother Prince Harry.
The news of her death was announced shortly after 6:30pm, BST.
