Queen 'liked' people getting royal protocol 'wrong', says Penny Lancaster

Sir Rod Stewart’s blonde bombshell wife Penny Lancaster has paid tribute to Her Majesty The Queen while giving a glimpse at the woman she was and how she enjoyed “having a laugh”.

The 51-year-old TV star turned police constable also spoke of how the late monarch enjoyed breaking the rules.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain last week, Penny shared some sweet anecdotes about the newly appointed King Charles III and the late Queen – while revealing the one way Her Majesty broke royal protocol.

Susanna said: “You can obviously get overwhelmed with nerves, but actually Her Majesty was not somebody who minded if you didn’t stick to protocol.”

Penny then revealed how Her Majesty “liked it when something went wrong”.

She said: “Absolutely, she always liked it when something went wrong – any opportunity to have a laugh.

“She really had a great sense of humour.”

Penny is now gearing up to work on the day of the Queen’s funeral as a special constable for the City of London Police.

The former Loose Women star and Strictly Come Dancing contestant joined the City of London Police after appearing on Channel 4’s Famous and Fighting Crime in 2020.

In April 2021, she completed her training and is now fully qualified.

Speaking about her job and having worked at royal events and occasions before, Penny revealed on GMB that working at the Queen’s memorial service at St Paul’s Cathedral “was a great privilege”.

She added: “I signed the oath of Office of Constable to Her Majesty the Queen just over a year ago, April last year, and just as the seamless tie between Her Majesty and King Charles III, my oath will now be with the King.”
