This Morning slam claims Holly and Phillip 'skipped queue' to see Queen's coffin

This Morning have defended hosts Phillip Scofield and Holly Willoughby amid claims they “jumped the queue” at the Queen’s lying-in-state.

Phil and Holly were among the thousands of people to visit Westminster Hall in the week to witness the late Queen Elizabeth II lying-in-state following her sad passing on September 8.

But claims swirled that the beloved TV duo had “jumped the queue” while thousands of people queued through the night in order to file past Her Majesty’s coffin – with some waiting for a reported 24 hours.

The TV programme they host, This Morning, has now issued a statement which was posted on the show’s Instagram story.

Holly and Phil visited Westminster Hall

It read: “Hello everyone, we would like to clarify something.

“We asked Phillip and Holly to be part of a film for this Tuesday’s programme.

“They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state – but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world’s media to report on an event.”

The statement comes as fans of the popular ITV Daytime show have threatened to “boycott” the show as they fume over Phil and Holly’s appearance at Westminster Hall.

People are up in arms because of the claims that say the two presenters “jumped the queue” while the likes of global football star David Beckham waited in line for 13 hours – and reportedly turned down a queue jump pass.

One person took to Twitter to pen: “Time that viewers boycott this morning for the selfish way Phill and Holly behaved by thinking they are better than others and not queueing. Shameful behaviour.”

While another revealed that they think they’re “done with watching This Morning”, adding: “Why couldn’t they queue like the thousands of others to see the queen? Super busy celebs huh? You just had 8 weeks off, I’m sure ITV would have given you another day if you cared enough!!! #shame.”
