Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster spotted policing Queen's funeral in full uniform

Sir Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster has been busy on the streets of London, adhering to her oath to the Monarch after joining the police.

The former model “signed the oath of Office of Constable to Her Majesty the Queen” back in April 2021 after joining the City of London police force.

She recently appeared on Good Morning Britain where she revealed she had policed the recent memorial for the late Queen Elizabeth II at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Taking to social media, one user shared a video of Penny in her full uniform as she made her way through huge crowds who had lined The Mall.

Wearing a stabproof vest, the blonde star politely asked the crowd if they could make way for her, while some spotted the famous copper.

Just days after the Queen’s death, Penny was among the hundreds of officers waiting at RAF Northolt ahead of the special military aircraft carrying the Queen’s coffin.

Police were on guard marshalling the hundreds of people who had lined the streets to pay tribute to the UK’s longest-reigning Monarch.

Penny signed up for the job of Special Constable after appearing on the reality show Famous and Fighting Crime.

During an episode of BBC’s Crimewatch, reflecting on her career she said: “It’s roughly about 200 hours a year which equates for myself to one duty a week in the City of London Square Mile including bridges there.

“It’s predominantly foot patrol but I also get the opportunity to try other areas of policing out like working in vehicles, working with the sniffer dogs and operations like the London Marathon, the Lord Mayor’s Show and coming up the Jubilee.”

She went on to add: “I think being a mum and having the patience and the empathy to deal with teenagers in particular helps.

“A lot of the time you think policing and you think crime but you’re dealing with victims.”

While Sir Rod is fully supportive of Penny’s career, she admits the rocker does worry about her wellbeing when she’s on the beat.

“He’s always supportive in whatever I like to venture into and with this in particular he realised the amount of enthusiasm and joy and reward I got from it,” she explained.
