Pointless fans were gutted when long-term co-host Richard Osman announced he was quitting the show after more than 1,300 episodes.
Osman announced in April that he was leaving the BBC quiz show after 13 years to focus on his writing career.
The 51-year-old had been a part of the original programme, alongside co-star Alexander Armstrong, for almost 30 series.
The move was designed to give Richard the chance to focus on his successful writing career, which has seen him become a best-seller following the popularity of The Thursday Murder Club.
The series of Pointless filmed in May was the first to be recorded without him giving out the least-recited answers since the show’s start in 2009.
Episodes featuring one of his replacements have been broadcast this week on BBC1.
Who is replacing Richard Osman on Pointless?
The BBC opted against choosing a permanent replacement for Osman for the new series.
Instead, there is a rotating cast of names stepping into his shoes, with regular viewers in-store for variety.
Actress Sally Lindsay, comic and former journalist Alex Brooker, radio broadcaster Lauren Laverne, actor Stephen Mangan, TV presenter Konnie Huq and funnyman Ed Gamble have all been confirmed as special guests hosts taking it in turns.
Who is Sally Lindsay?
Sally Lindsay was the first new host up to give it a go, with her first episode airing on Tuesday (September 20).
The 49-year-old played Sally Unwin in Coronation Street and Lisa Johnson in the Sky comedy Mount Pleasant.
She also took the part of Kath Agnew in the BBC sitcom Still Open All Hours.
The Stockport-born actress has some game show experience, having previously stood in for Warwick Davis when he took a break from the ITV quiz show Tenable.
A friend of comedian Peter Kay since her 20s, she appeared with the Bolton man in his Channel 4 series Phoenix Nights and in the video for the Comic Relief single Is This the Way to Amarillo?.
In 2000, she appeared in an episode of Caroline Aherne series The Royle Family, playing Twiggy’s girlfriend Michelle.
Lindsay married the former drummer of The Style Council and Paul Weller Band, Steve White, in 2013.
They have twin boys, Vic and Louie.
How did Richard Osman get the Pointless gig?
Osman was not originally intended to be the co-presenter with Armstrong, his university friend.
But after filling the role as part of a demonstration laid on for the BBC, executives asked him to continue for the first series.
He was the creative director at the production company Endemol when he did the demo, a role he stepped down from in 2020.
The programme moved from BBC Two to BBC One after a successful two years.
Pointless sees teams of two competing for a cash prize by finding correct but obscure answers to general knowledge questions.
*Pointless airs today at 5.15pm on BBC One
