BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty found herself in trouble live on-air, after channel bosses gave her a telling off during an “awkward” chat.
The presenter was linking up with Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt in the Salford Quays studio alongside her co-star Charlie Stayt this week (October 1).
Before the link-up, the hosts had been chatting to weather presenter Matt Taylor, with Naga then informing her audience at home: “From one Matt to another. We’re with you until 10 o’clock – that’s when Matt Tebbutt takes over in the Saturday Kitchen.”

A red-faced Matt Tebbutt replied: “That last Matt really scared me because I thought I had a minute and a half, and I was on my phone texting my friend and I nearly dropped it.”
Naga then joked: “He’s really scary generally so it was the right sentiment.”

Matt couldn’t resist a bizarre question, as he fired back at Naga: “Do you have any favourite Matts?”
Naga quipped: “Matt Taylor!” before the Saturday Kitchen host gave viewers a taste of what was to come on the programme.
Charlie Stayt cut in to query: “Do you want a bit more time? Do you want a bit more? Does it make it more awkward?”
Matt giggled: “Yeah, why not? What shall we chat about?”

Charlie was a little bemused as he said: “I don’t know really, I just thought it was all feeling a little bit awkward – I don’t know how it is from there, is it feeling a bit awkward?” – but Matt quickly said: “It’s not awkward!”
He explained there was a “very relaxed vibe” going on in the studio, but Naga soon changed that with her news from bosses in her ear.
Matt drew attention to an even bigger awkward moment then, cheekily adding: “Have you lost an item because you seem to be filling?”
Naga hit back: “No we haven’t, we’re actually being told off in our ears to move on, so enough of you.”

BBC Breakfast recently came under fire as one reporter suggested viewers can microwave their chicken to save money during the energy crisis.
Consumer Affairs Correspondent Colletta Smith told her audience at home that to cook a chicken, an electric oven would cost around 84p, a gas hob 33p and an air fryer around 15p.
Her microwave idea, in comparison, would cost only 5 pence.
But disgusted viewers turned out on social media in force to fume at the segment, with one writing: “Did she just advocate cooking raw chicken breasts in the microwave? First of all, who can afford chicken and secondly, maybe Saturday Kitchen could tell us why you shouldn’t do that.”
Another quipped: “Cooking a chicken breast in the microwave,” and added a GIF of Jim Carrey making a mock vomit expression.
