Coronation Street spoilers: Aaron domestic abuse horror, Alya murder plot and sad exit

Coronation Street youngster Aaron Sandford (James Craven) is threatened by his abusive dad Eric Sandford (Craig Cheetham) in dramatic scenes next week.

Aaron reveals to girlfriend Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) that he has confiscated his dad’s wallet to stop him buying booze and has discovered a bag of cannabis.

Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) find a giggly Aaron and Summer in the flat, off their faces on freshly baked weed brownies.

With the bishop due to visit any minute, Billy’s appalled and sends them off to hide in the bedroom.

Coronation Street fans can expect plenty of drama next week as Aaron Sandford’s abusive dad arrives in Weatherfield

Todd catches the bishop about to try one of the brownies and yells at him to stop but is it too late?

Billy resumes lecturing Aaron on the dangers of drugs until Summer snaps that she’s sick of being told what to do.

Later in the week, Aaron’s dad arrives at the garage visibly drunk and volatile and threatens his son over the stolen cash and weed.

However, he’s quickly sent packing by Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).

Aaron lashes out at Paul Foreman in upcoming scenes

Aaron meets up with Summer and she is shocked to discover that his dad was waiting for him and attacked him when he got home.

Having heard from Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) about Aaron stealing weed from his dad, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) calls at the flower shop flat and lays into Aaron for leading Summer astray.

When Paul grabs his bruised arm, Aaron winces in pain and lashes out, punching Paul in the face. Summer watches in shock.

Paul tells Billy he’s reporting him to the police but when Aaron explains to Billy that his dad regularly beats him, the Weatherfield vicar is sympathetic and heads off to stop Paul reporting Aaron. Will he get to him in time?

James Bailey leaves Weatherfield for a new life in London

Elsewhere, a nervous Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) prepares to meet his granddaughter Eliza at Speed Daal but is delighted when the meeting goes well. But the mood changes when ex Lucy Woodrow (Lynda Rooke) arrives and insists that Bridget (Beth Vyse) and Eliza leave the restaurant immediately.

At number 3, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) tells Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) that there was no trace of Stu’s DNA on Charlie’s bag but it will be expensive to get the evidence re-tested.

When Alya spots the women leaving the restaurant she runs after them and accuses a flustered Lucy of hiding vital information linked to Stu’s case.

Ayla Nazir plots to help Stu Carpenter

Believing Lucy knows more than she is letting on, Alya is determined to find the cash for the DNA test.

Stu tells Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) and Alya that he no longer wants to pursue his case and simply wants to leave the past in the past.

He remains set on dropping his case in the hope of connecting with his daughter and granddaughter.

When Dee-Dee tells Alya she has got the funding for the test Alya keeps Stu’s wishes a secret and tells Dee-Dee everything has to go through her.

Alya collars Dee-Dee and, producing a mug that Lucy drank from earlier, insists they have it tested for DNA so they can finally know if she’s the true culprit behind Charlie’s murder.

Dee-Dee admits to Alya she’s decided not to return to her job in LA but hasn’t told her family yet.

Dee-Dee is furious at Alya’s duplicity but after listening to Alya’s reasoning she says she will send the cup off and if Stu changes his mind then they will have the results for him.

Also, Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) tells nephew James Bailey (Nathan Graham) there’s a youth centre near Lewisham looking for a football coach.

Realising it’s close to where Danny Tomlinson (Dylan Brady) lives, James promises to call them straight away.

An excited James tells Ronnie that he got the job at the youth centre and starts tomorrow.

In the Bistro, James breaks the news to the family that he’s landed a great new job, but it means moving to London.

Ed (Trevor Michael Gerorges), Aggie (Lorna Laidlaw), Michael (Ryan Russell) and Dee-Dee bid an emotional farewell to James as he leaves the street.
