Alison’s admission was prompted by former politician Gyles who told a story about Joanna Lumley accidentally leaving a £1,000 tip instead of £10.

Giles explained that because she is Joanna Lumley, staff wouldn’t realise the hefty tip was an accident, prompting the pair not to say anything about the mistake and leave the West London hotel.

He went on to say that the hotel eventually contacted him saying they believe she made a mistake which led to the actress giving the money to charity.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
