Olly Murs has said he is “sick of hearing people sing” and secretly wishes he could be on stage while he judges from the The Voice hotseat.
Murs opened up on his career during an intimate album launch party and touched upon how he feels when he’s on the judging panel.
He said: “I love sitting in the chair on The Voice but it bores the hell out of me as well! I want to perform, I’m sick of hearing people sing. I want to sing! I love presenting Starstruck but, again, I don’t want to be talking for two hours. I want to be singing for two hours!”

Olly continued: “That’s my bread and butter. To be back with new music that I absolutely love and adore, it’s the best. Genuinely, can’t wait.”
Murs is clearly very proud of his new album Marry Me and claimed it to be his best work to date.
He explained: “Every artist will come up and say: ‘This is the best album I’ve ever done,’ but this is truly the best I’ve ever done. I don’t even know, if I do an album after this, if it will come close. Genuinely, it’s on the money for me – vocally, production [wise], everything, how it makes me feel.”
Olly then opened up on his thoughts about social media and how it can help artists grow and said he “loves” it as he is “part of that generation”.
He then recalled one time when he was backstage at The X Factor and the crew told him that they had set up a Twitter account for him which, at the time, was a relatively new platform.
Olly had no clue what Twitter was as he’d “only ever had Facebook” and noted that he is now “part of a generation” where artists are now forced to promote their music on multiple different platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat.
“That’s the world we live in, a different generation – and I love it! I’ve been away [from music] for four years now, TikTok has gone mental! Even though I do all my pranks on there, I’ve never done anything music related.”
He called it an “exciting new world” and “what it is all about” before he moved on to talk more about his career.
He said that “25 was a good age for him” to start his music career and beamed as he said he “absolutely loves his job” and “entertaining people”.
