Claudia Winkleman teases Strictly format change after controversial dance off

TV presenter Claudia Winkleman jokes she will “change the format” of Strictly Come Dancing after Fleur East found herself in the dreaded dance-off.

During Sunday’s BBC One results show, all 14 celebrities waited to learn their fate as to whether they would survive another week on the dance competition.

And it’s fair to say her fellow contestant’s were surprised with the shocking result as she prepared to perform her Little Mermaid inspired routine once again.

Actor Will Mellor shared his shock and disappointment at the result as 50-year-old asked him about his thoughts on her performance.

The Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star confessed: “I saw [Fleur East’s] performance, I saw it in rehearsal and it was one of my favourite ones.

“I just felt shocked. I didn’t expect her to be in the bottom at all and dancing for survival.”

The actor went on to share his issue with the BBC dance competition, adding: “It’s strange, it’s a horrible situation this, it really is. We have all the fun doing the performance and then this happens and it’s not nice.”

It was at this point that the hilarious comic joked: “I’m sorry, we’ll totally change the format but for the meantime …”

Fans soon flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts on the cheeky comment on social media.

One user penned: “Claudia’s sense of humour is so funny to me like sorry she’s actually hilarious #Strictly.”

Meanwhile, one user argued: “Never change the format. Results night is my favourite bit #Strictly.”

However another pointed out: “I wish they would change the format for #Strictly like #dwts with voting at the start of the show.”
