The Pogues’ Shane MacGowan unrecognisable as he warns fans ‘bring lots of money’

The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan looked totally unrecognisable in a new video promoting his art exhibition – with pieces predicted to sell for up to £32,000.

But the singer left some fans “gutted” with the short video.

Shane could be seen reclining on his side on a set of pillows in the short video, wearing a blue floral button-up shirt and holding a glass of what looked to be water in one hand.

His mouse brown hair almost reached his neck and one of Shane’s gold teeth was visible as he spoke directly to the camera in a video posted to Twitter.

Shane MacGowan looked totally different in the new clip

The singer has suffered physically from years of binge drinking, admitting he began drinking alcohol aged just five, when his family slipped him Guinness to help him fall asleep.

In 2016, MacGowan went sober “for the first time in years” after contracting pneumonia and suffering a hip injury which left him in hospital.

The new video, filmed by Shane’s long-term partner Victoria Clarke, saw him attempt to entice fans to his auction – warning them to “bring lots of money”.

He said in the clip: “Here it is come and get it, but you’d better hurry because it’s going fast.”

He added: “That’s my painting, which is being exhibited tonight. They’re available in limited edition. Organised by my other half Victoria.”

Victoria then said she was “very grateful” to Shane, who continued: “Don’t forget to bring some money. A lot of money.”

“Oh yeah, that’s a good idea,” Victoria interjected, as her singer partner said: “They won’t get cheaper.”

But some of his fans were left “gutted” as they couldn’t attend the star-studded event.

Taking to the replies section, one penned: “Gutted I can’t make it down. Have a wonderful evening!”

Another gushed: “Best of luck from Australia!”, as a third told Shane they “love him”.

More branded the singer a “legend”, while someone else posted: “Best of luck Shane, hope it’s a great success!”

It comes after Victoria shared that Shane suffered “another accident” last year, which felt like a “huge setback”.

Victoria explained: “Shane had another accident and it seemed like a huge setback because he was doing really, really well.

“Sometimes it can feel very f***ed up and depressing and frustrating to see your loved ones being knocked down and having to keep picking themselves back up!

“And you can feel angry and upset and frustrated with life and confused like WTFingF?!!!!”
