Phillip Schofield 'angry' as Holly Willoughby is 'defensive' during tense NTAs speech

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were front and centre once again after This Morning took home the gong for best daytime show at the National Television Awards on Thursday (October 13).

The duo looked visibly stunned when they realised they had won and were all smiles as they headed up to collect their award.

They were met with boos from the crowd as they took to the stage however, which is likely surrounding the recent controversy following accusations they skipped the queue to see Queen Elizabeth II lying in state.

Phil, 60, took the lead as he told the audience: “This means so much to us. Every year, especially this year. We have the most amazing team. I have the best friend. We have the best boss.”

“We are very lucky,” chimed Holly, 41.

Body language expert Adrianne Carter spoke exclusively to Daily Star after analysing part of their speech, coming to the conclusion that Phil was showing signs of “anger and annoyance.”

She said: “Phil is showing a lot of tight-lipped smiles, which are a sign of anger and annoyance.”

Moving on to Holly, the expert added: “Holly does a lot of touching herself and her arm across her body, which are signs of defensiveness, self-soothing, and a barrier.

“She’s definitely not showing her normal confident self. As she says ‘Thank you so much…’ there is a slight headshake of ‘no’ whilst saying the words, which can often mean a rejection of the words being spoken.”

Meanwhile celebrity psychic and body language expert Inbaal Honigman believed the pair were “truly grateful and more than a little bit surprised” that they had received the award.

She explained: “Phil is clutching the trophy with stiff fingers, which shows that he’s holding on to tension.”

“His face isn’t calm and confident, like someone who thought a win was in the bag – his lips disappear as he stretches his mouth in a gesture that expresses anxiety, his jaw is tensing, showing his pride in the efforts that him and the rest of the team put into the show,” she added.

The celebrity psychic also believes Holly’s body language suggests queue-gate is still on her mind.

The expert explained: “As she talks, she’s leaning forward a tiny bit and raises her eyebrows in a gesture that’s very subtly apologetic, she may still carry some worries about the queue drama of a few weeks before.”
