As he joined multiple stars in reuniting to celebrate the wizarding world and all it had doe for them, Robbie had a sweet way to sum up his experience.
Appearing emotional, he said during the HBO Max Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts show that it was the “end of an era”.
He said: “Ten years of my life. My children have grown up during it. The legacy of the movies is that my children’s generation will show them to their children.
“So you could be watching it in 50 years time, easily… I’ll not be here sadly, but Hagrid will, yes.”
The video has done the rounds again following the news of his passing, with one person writing: “Thank you Robbie Coltrane for leaving us with Hagrid forever, you were a treasure.”
Fans immediately flocked to the response with one person writing: “Dumbledore, Snape and now Hagrid. Nah man, we’re not okay. RIP Hagrid.”
Another said: “One of the most loveable characters in all of fiction, legend.”
A third wrote: “I thought about this interview as soon as I heard the news.”
Tributes have poured in for Robbie online, but one gif that is showing up above all else is a snippet from Harry Potter following Dumbeldore’s death, with students and teachers raising their wands in the air.
The news of Robbie’s death has rocked many fans – not just from his work on Harry Potter but for his work throughout his career.
His agent Belinda Wright confirmed his passing on October 14 as she said in a statement: “My client and friend Robbie Coltrane OBE passed away on Friday October 14. Robbie was a unique talent, sharing the Guinness Book of Records’ Award for winning three consecutive Best Actor Baftas for his portrayal of Fitz in Granada TV’s series Cracker in 1994, 1995 and 1996 with Sir Michael Gambon.
“He will probably be best remembered for decades to come as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, a role which brought joy to children and adults alike all over the world, prompting a stream of fan letters every week for over 20 years.”
She added: “As well as being a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent, brilliantly witty and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I shall miss him.”
