I'm A Celeb's Danny Miller hits back after strange Stephen Mulhern dig at NTAs

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Danny Miller has hit back after he made a questionable comment about Stephen Mulhern at this week’s National Television Awards.

At the annual event, Danny was on stage with his I’m A Celeb co-stars accepting the award for Best Entertainment, as hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly couldn’t attend due to them both having Covid.

And viewers were left confused by Danny’s comment about Stephen, who works closely with Ant and Dec and has done for years.

Smiling next to the ITV regular, Danny said: “Don’t believe everything you read. A good friend and a personal joke.”

The comment in question saw Danny, 31, thanking fans for the award for I’m A Celeb, accepting on behalf of Ant and Dec.

He said: “Just on behalf of Ant and Dec who unfortunately have Covid so they can’t be here tonight, and Stephen Mulhern is in the crowd so not sure why he hasn’t accepted the award on behalf of them.”

On Thursday (October 13), there appeared to be a frostiness in the room after Danny’s comment, as Stephen looked as though he was caught off guard.

Danny went on: “I’d just like to say on behalf of the production, the crew, the cast and my fellow campmates as well.

“Although we had to have an evacuation, I think I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the production staff who got it back onto television.

“It would have been a waste of money and we wouldn’t have got paid which would have been awful for everyone included, especially me.”

He then thanked the Geordie duo for “making the show what it is” and wished the incoming campmates for the 2023 good luck.

The beloved ITV series will finally return to Australia this year after two years in Wales due to Covid-related travel restrictions.

The cast is yet to be confirmed, however a number of names have been rumoured, including Mike Tindall and Olivia Attwood.
