Pointing the finger at editors and show producers, some newlyweds have been left feeling disappointed by what’s been shown on screens.

However, A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “Married at First Sight UK episodes are carefully put together and we ensure that what we broadcast is a fair and accurate reflection of the events that unfolded

Daily Star has taken a look at some of the contestants who have called out the show in the past.

Gemma

Gemma didn’t have a great experience on Married at First Sight when she tied the knot to Matt Murray.

Although there were evident fireworks on the wedding day, things quickly fizzled out between the pair when Matt appeared to have a disliking to Gemma’s outspoken persona and sexual jokes.

But when fans asked Gemma about what was said she revealed that the storyline that was given to her on the show was completely “unacceptable”.

She said: “Storylines like this, the storylines they have created of me, ruins lives.

“It’s not okay. I have two children and a business. And I think if you asked any of the team who worked on Married At First Sight they would say I was one of the nicest people that worked on it.

“This is unacceptable,” she added.

Gemma also claimed that her husband Matt also made crude jokes on their wedding day however this cut out.

Taking to her Instagram, she added: “Have we learnt anything from Love Island? False versions of serious situations and change the storyline so dramatically… RUINS LIVES.”

Kasia

Business owner Kasia was also forced to complain about the programme when she felt her scenes with husband Kwame could have been misinterpreted.

As they tried to navigate married life, it was clear Kasia and Kwame struggled with intimacy.

Throughout the series, it appeared Kwame was the one holding back as Kasia urged him to show her more of himself.

But once the episodes aired, Kasia was disappointed by the scenes and said she had to have words with the chief executives.

Talking to The Sun she expressed: “They made out like I was the one chasing Kwame, but it was the other way round.

“In the scene where I said ‘I’m ready’, it was from another interview when I said ‘I’m ready to move in’ with my husband.

“But it looked like I was saying I was ready to hop into bed with him. I had words with a chief executives about that.”

Matt

Matt had a rather turbulent time on this year’s series, as his marriage to Gemma didn’t work and his romance with Whitney Hughes failed to also materialise.

The hunky barber was also the centre of several heated arguments on the show.

But following his time on the programme, Matt said he had regrets even going on the reality series and said he would never react the way he did in certain situations.

Matt also said some of his scenes with Whitney were never aired.

Talking openly to fans on Instagram he said: “Don’t ever go on reality TV!!

“I’ve definitely learned… online resilience. And watching some of it back despite how heavily it was edited. I don’t feel like the comments about people were necessary.”

Matt added: “They made this… because nobody saw the conversation me and Whitney actually had because nobody saw it, it didn’t make any sense to the viewer.

“The actual conversation that we had had, it wasn’t even something that had any emotion to it. We were both upset at the same thing at the same time. It’s not my place to speak about Whitney’s life.”

Kwame

Businessman Kwame received backlash from fans when he took wife Kasia to a park bench instead of his house during home stays.

As fans continued to speculate what the issue was, Kwame later came out to reveal that he told Kasia the reason why he didn’t want to show his home, but it was never aired on the programme.

Explaining the situation while on Reprezent Radio, Kwame said: “The whole context weren’t shown in the episode.

“What was highlighted to her is ‘look I’m more than happy to take you to my property. We can go now, let’s jump in an Uber go to my crib right now and I’ll show you once the cameras are gone.’

“I have two children, two girls. We live in congested London. I don’t want people to know. I wanted to keep that back. When I explained privacy and secrecy what I was explaining is for against the general public.”

Morag

Morag said a private conversation later came to light on the show

Last year’s participant Morag revealed that producers conjured up conflict that led to a massive fight amongst the couples in her series.

Morag who was married to firefighter Luke, already knew fellow co-star Josh Christie before they appeared on the show.

After realising that Josh had previously slid into her direct messages, Morag disclosed her encounter with Josh to a producer in confidence.

But later in the show, Morag said the producers created a situation where she was forced to own up.

She told The Sun: “I was like, ‘you f****rs’, oh my God that’s so bad.

“They made it look like I just came out with it at the table, but actually when it came up, I didn’t drink, to avoid a situation.

“I knew what they were trying to do, and I was like, I’m not giving you that. But then there was a massive debate amongst the girls, like, ‘this has been put here for a reason,’ so I had to own up and tell them.”

Franky

Franky Spencer said a lot of aspects were edited out

In 2021, Franky tied the knot with Marilyse and though there were stark differences the couple appeared to get along well.

However some fans were not so keen on Franky’s straight talking demeanour and seemed to think they he was dominating his wife Marilyse.

After receiving comments from fans who were confused by his behaviour, Franky said many aspects of his relationship were not shown on the programme.

He said: “During the experiment, there were a lot of amazing positives that went on between Marilyse and [himself], and that those experiences have not yet been shown.”

He also added: “I am not the guy who edits all the footage. I just don’t know what’s going on. It is what it is, you know. I’m thick-skinned.”
