Emmerdale actor quits soap as Cain and Al feud ends in horror shooting

Emmerdale star Michael Wildman has reportedly quit his role as Al Chapman, as the character’s ongoing feud with Cain Dingle reaches its dramatic climax.

Michael has played Al for three years, originally introduced as Jesse Dingle’s ex-husband and Ellis Chapman’s father.

During his time on the ITV soap he’s feuded with a number of characters, but nobody more than Cain, played by Jeff Hordley.

As that storyline draws to a close with a horror shooting, it’s reported that actor Michael has decided now is the best time to leave Emmerdale and move on to new opportunities.

A source told The Sun: “Michael has really enjoyed his time at Emmerdale but it’s the right thing to move on.

“He’s had some massive storylines but all good things must come to an end.”

New Emmerdale spoilers have revealed that both Cain and Al’s lives are at risk in an upcoming episode after a dark secret is exposed.

Cain is finally set to discover that his sister Chas (Lucy Pargeter) has been having an affair with Al behind her husband Paddy Kirk’s (Dominic Brunt) back.

Cain goes to confront Al and holds him at gunpoint and prepares to fight him.

The two men start to go at it when they notice the gun lying off to the side, with them then rushing to try and grab it.

Viewers will hear a gunshot ring out, but it’s not yet been revealed who ends up on the receiving end of a bullet.

Michael joins a growing list of Emmerdale stars who have left the show in recent weeks.

Emmerdale fans will have to wait to see who gets shot

Katherine Dow Blyton left her role as Harriet Finch after she was killed off as the first casualty of the 50th anniversary episodes.

Isobel Steele followed when her character Liv Flaherty died after being crushed by a caravan during the big storm.

News then broke that Fiona Wade was leaving her role of Priya Sharma, though it’s not yet known how she will make her exit.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV
