An ’emotional’ James Corden has opened up about his impending return to the UK following a successful eight-year stint in the US where he presented The Late Late Show.
Appearing on Friday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, the 44-year old spoke of his ‘pride’ at his work across the pond, but feels the time is right to return to his homeland along with wife Julia Carey and their three children.
Speaking to the show’s entertainment editor Richard Arnold, Corden said: “It’s going to be really emotional. It’s going to be a real thing to draw it to a close but I’m so proud of it. I’m so proud of what I’ve done.

“I love where we live, I love being in Los Angeles. I love it, but we always knew it would be an adventure and not a final destination. This place, this little island, is amazing.
“The stuff it’s created, the things it’s given the world. I’ve always been very proud to call it home.”
Gavin and Stacey star Corden, meanwhile, was forced to issue an apology earlier this week after the owner of LA restaurant Balthazar claimed he was abusive to its staff.
Corden, who was subsequently banned from the establishment on the grounds of rude behaviour by proprietor Keith McNally said he was “walking around thinking I’d done nothing wrong” afterwards.
However, in a dramatic U-turn, the star issued a statement on his US TV show which read: “I didn’t shout or scream, I didn’t get up out of my seat, I didn’t call anyone names or use derogatory language.
“But the truth is I have made a rude, rude comment. And it was wrong. It was an unnecessary comment, it was ungracious to the server.”
He went on to explain that the incident occurred after Julia was served food which she was ‘allergic to’.
McNally took to Instagram to respond, describing Corden as a ‘cretin’ who had been ‘extremely nasty’ to his employees.
“James Corden is a hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny cretin of a man,” he wrote.
“And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago. I don’t often 86 a customer, to today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh…”
