Deal or No Deal 'to return without host Noel Edmonds' eight years after Channel 4 axe

Deal or No Deal is reportedly returning to TV, eight years after being axed.

The classic 22-box gameshow originally for 11 years on Channel 4 but will allegedly be rebooted on ITV, with plans to revamp the series in the “early stages”.

Fronted by Noel Edmonds during its first run, a new host is reportedly being lined up to replace him this time around as bosses are said to have approached In For A Penny presenter Stephen Mulhern to front the new series..

“ITV think there is still a huge appetite for it and think they could make a huge success of the show if they brought it back.”

Confirming bosses had reached out to Stephen and also entertained the idea of welcoming Noel back as host, they later added: “Stephen has been approached about being the new host of the show which is something he is over-the-moon about.

“He has really proven himself to ITV and after he got his own show In For A Penny, as well as Catchphrase, bosses think Stephen could be ideal for it.”

Deal or No Deal originally ran from 2005 – 2016.

Hosted by Noel Edmonds, the show saw one randomly-picked contestant tasked with making the best guesses and deals in order to walk away with the most money at the end of the episode.

Advised by The Banker, they would attempt to win the grand cash total of £250,000 though could be left with a paltry 1p by making the wrong decisions.

Originally filmed in Bristol, Deal or No Deal ended with a rolling UK tour in August 2016.

Ahead of the show’s axe, the identity of the show’s mysterious banker was finally confirmed by Richard Osman in 2015.

Richard confirmed that Deal or No Deal producer and Coronation Street actor Glenn Hugill was the voice on the other end of the phone.

Deal or No Deal is set to return to ITV.
