Strictly star Dan Walker elbowed dancer partner in teeth in horror rehearsal accident

Strictly Come Dancing star Dan Walker has revealed a time he injured his co-star Nadiya Bychkova.

The star competed on the BBC programme last year which is when he suffered a blunder during training.

Talking exclusively to the Daily Star, he told us: “I think I did actually elbow her in the teeth one week – she’s got strong Ukrainian teeth so we were alright there, and I think I made a mistake in one week but I’ve blanked it out but I had a really lovely time on the show.”

He also let slip that a Strictly judge told him he thought he was going to be ‘awful’.

The former BBC Breakfast revealed: “I genuinely thought I would be terrible – I went to Strictly with my daughter this year and Anton [Du Beke] reminded me of what he said during week one – he said to me ‘do you remember what I said after your dance?’

“He said ‘I thought you would be awful but actually you were ok’ – and i said to him ‘I do remember that because that was how I felt’. That was the first judges’ comments I had got.

He added: “That was fine though because when you’ve not got any expectations of where you are going to be good or not and I was with someone who was so good at teaching and I learned so much from her and it was a really positive three months.

“When you go on something like this it’s like you’re learning a new language, you’re not fluent but you can speak it here and there and when someone takes you by the hand you don’t have to be scared even though you are tall and awkward still – and people will enjoy you enjoying it, it’s quite a game-changing thing.”

The presenter also cheekily revealed why viewers might not want to see his former BBC Breakfast co-star Louise Minchin in the mornings.

Talking about his relationship with Louise, he said: “I saw Louise at the NTAs last week or the week before last. I think particularly when you get up at that time in the morning with people you form a really strong friendship.”

“If Louise hadn’t had her triple espresso at five to six… You don’t want to see Louise in the morning before her espresso. Trust me!”
