The Chase fans swoon over 80s pop icon's 'ageless' appearance on ITV quiz show

The Chase Celebrity fans were swooning on Saturday night ‘80s legend Cheryl Baker made an appearance as a contestant on the show.

The 68-year-old is best known for winning the 1981 Eurovision Song Content as part of the pop supergroup Bucks Fizz.

Cheryl joined a clan of three other much-loved celebrities including Good Morning Britain’s Laura Tobin, American football player Jason Bell and author Mark Steel.

During her stint on the ITV gameshow, many viewers were quick to comment on how good the British star looks for her age.

“Wow, @Cherylbaker looking fabulous on The Chase,” one fan tweeted.

In the cash builder, Cheryl managed to get £8,000 for the final, in which she, Laura and Mark all reached with a grand total of £142,000.

However, the trio didn’t win, with the chaser winning the show last-minute.

Fans said the star looked ‘fabulous’ on the show

As part of Bucks Fizz, Cheryl scored 11 top-ten singles including three number-one hits.

However in 1993, Cheryl left the group and followed up with a successful TV presenting career.

For years, the singer was one of our most popular presenters years ago, with hit shows such as Record Breakers.

However last year, Cheryl revealed the offers stopped coming in when she hit her mid-40s.

She said: “For years I was presenting on TV six days a week. But in 1997 everything changed. I filmed an episode of This Is Your Life and it was the kiss of death. After that, I couldn’t get work. The TV presenting just stopped.

“I wasn’t on TV for years… the difference was crazy.”

Cheryl reckons men don’t suffer the same problems as they get older.

She added: “It’s a man’s world when you get to a certain age. As a man you can be any age and still be a presenter. But it’s very rare that you see an older woman doing it after a certain age. If you’re a woman, you’ve got to be young.”
