Matt Hancock said yes to I'm A Celeb after saying 'I'll never work in Government again'

Matt ‘Coco’ Hancock signed up to go on I’m A Celebrity after telling pals: “I’ll never work in Government again.”

The ex-Tory Health Secretary headed for the jungle after accepting his lockdown-busting affair had ended his career in top-level politics.

A source said: “When news started circulating about his reality TV career it seemed like an idiotic decision.

Coco will reportedly net £400,000 for his stint Down Under alongside singer Boy George and former rugby ace Mike Tindall. He is also reportedly entitled to keep pocketing his £84,144 MP’s salary, despite being away for up to three weeks.

Hancock has pledged to make donations to a hospice and causes supporting dyslexia.

His spokesman said being on I’m A Celeb was “an amazing opportunity for Matt to… talk about an issue he really cares about in front of millions of people”.

It comes after spoiler snaps confirmed dramatic arrivals for those in camp, with Olivia Attwood and Chris Moyles facing the ultimate entrance – the skydive.

Mike Tindall, Sue Cleaver and Owen Warner went by boat, while earlier Babatúndé Aleshe, Jill Scott and Charlene White were made to walk the plank from the top of a skyscraper in Surfers Paradise.

But one contestant pulled the plug on the trial before it had even begun.

Babatunde looked to be rather flustered as he faced The Ledge, with the celebs tasked with walking across a wobbly beam thousands of feet up.

One onlooker claimed to Daily Star: “Babatunde looked nervous before the challenge began and he never got going.”

The celebrity trio – who had to complete the trial simultaneously – reportedly waited 45 minutes before beginning the task as one musketeer, believed to be Babatunde, had second doubts.

According to reports, a yellow tilting ledge had also been added to the plank, making it even more challenging.
