I’m A Celeb fans baffled as star says 'get me out of here' before even entering camp

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers were left baffled during the show’s inaugural episode, as one star pulled the plug on the first Bushtucker trial within seconds.

Stand-up comedian and Celebrity Gogglebox star Babatunde Aleshe was facing The Ledge alongside Lioness Jill Scott and Loose Women star Charlene White.

The celebs were tasked with walking a plank 32 storeys up on top of the Gold Coast’s Focus building, on a ledge that would then drop back.

At the end of the plank, they had to dangle out for 60 seconds while holding onto a rope – before the platform collapsed beneath them, sending them flying through the air.

It all proved too much for Babatunde, who made it only a few inches out before crying: “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here.”

Later, hosts Ant and Dec couldn’t resist quipping of the incident: “Out there, every part of your body is screaming at you to get out of there – and you listened!”

“It was the voice of god,” Babatunde retorted.

Fans were left baffled on social media, with one writing: “Not even 5 minutes in Babatunde! Embarrassing.”

Someone else said: “Nice to see Babatunde has volunteered himself for every trial until Matt Hancock enters the jungle!”

“I knew Babatunde would bottle it. Him and Hancock for EVERY trial now!” another viewer echoed.

As a fourth social media user said: “It’s been a while since we heard those words Babatunde! The whole of the UK will be nominating you for the trials.”

Others, however, were more sympathetic to his plight, with one fan saying they wanted to “hug” the star.

One joked on Twitter: “Me judging Babatunde for not walking out on that ledge as if I didn’t cry on Tower of Terror at Disneyland.”

Another penned: “Me calling Babatunde a wimp knowing full well I wouldn’t even manage to make it to the top of the tower let alone back out before seeing the bottom.”

Babatunde actually made ITV show history by being quitting the trial so quickly, after urging himself to “just go!” while standing out on the ledge.

The tearful star told cameras: “It’s windy, that’s contributing to the water in my eyes…

“I said I was determined to be here. I wasn’t determined to be there [pointing to the plank].”
