GMB's Susanna Reid convinced she knows Matt Hancock's real motive for I'm A Celeb stint

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid ripped into Matt Hancock, slamming his attempts to forge a new TV career from his appearance on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!

As co-host Ben Shepard read out tweets from people supporting Matt’s appearance on the ITV programme, Susanna claimed she realised Matt’s real motive.

“That’s what he’s hoping for,” she said. “He’s hoping for some sort of redemption, even a new career maybe”.

After being shown a clip of Matt discussing his decision to enter the jungle with journalist and fellow campmate Charlene White, Susanna hit out at Matt’s claims that everything at home “be fine”.

“Oh yeah everything’s going to be fine – what about his constituents!” she exclaimed.

Susanna continued: “There are people in West Suffolk that need their MP!”

Susanna, along with members of Matt’s constituency and the general public, wasn’t happy with Matt’s controversial new move.

On Monday morning, Susanna reported on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s “disappointment” at Matt’s I’m A Celeb stint.

Matt entered the jungle in Wednesday night’s episode

“Well, the fact that he’s in there has gone down quite badly with the Prime Minister,” she told viewers on Good Morning Britain.

A petition was launched by Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice to stop the former MP from entering the jungle. The 40,000 people who signed the petition hit out at Matt’s “insult to already grieving families”.

Celebrity campmate Boy George broke down in tears as Mr Hancock entered the camp, admitting he felt uncomfortable “sitting here having fun” with the former health secretary.

Boy George told campmates about his struggle to see his ill mother during Covid since he was following Matt’s social distancing rules at the time.

He told campmates: “I thought she was going to die, and I was tweeting Greenwich Hospital saying please look after my mum.”

“They did and she was fine,” he continued, “But I feel like I don’t want to be sitting here like I’m having fun with him”.

Boy George admitted he’d of left the jungle had his mother passed.

“It is difficult for me because had something happened and my mum had gone, I wouldn’t be here now. I would have gone if he had walked in.”
