Emmerdale Kyle star’s life – John Lewis ad fame, ‘lots of crying’ and real age

Emmerdale fans have been so impressed with young Huey Quinn’s portrayal of 10-year-old Kyle Winchester that they’ve branded him the “best child actor”.

Kyle confessed to shooting Al Chapman dead – an act which left his dad Cain in prison, covering for his young son.

As 10 is the age of criminal responsibility in the UK, a confession to the police could mean Kyle appearing in court and potentially serving time behind bars.

As for actor Huey, the youngster took on the role back in 2013, when he was still a baby.

It was previously portrayed by baby twins Molly and Isaac Ainsworth – who also found fame in Waterloo Road – for just one month.

But what about Huey’s life away from the soap? We take a look

His first claim to fame came working in advertisements for retail giant John Lewis in 2017 – though his mum also posted an adorable range of home videos to their YouTube channel, in which Huey can be seen unwrapping presents.

Huey is 10 years and 11 months old, making him the same age as Kyle, who is set to turn 11 in December.

Fans have demanded the soap be celebrated with awards after the storyline

Plenty of Emmerdale fans have praised him as one of the soap’s best ever child actors after Kyle’s emotional confession to mum Amy, taking to Twitter to praise his talent.

One viewer penned: “Huey Quinn who plays Kyle is the best child actor I’ve seen in a long time!”

As someone else posted: “Who knew Emmerdale had a hidden gem of an actor in Huey Quinn… what a talent!”

Others said the awards should be heaped onto the young actor, gushing: “Hopefully this storyline will get Natalie J Robb and Jeff Hordley some awards next year! They sure deserve some. Little Huey Quinn too!”

But Amy Wyatt star Natalie Ann Jamieson admitted there was “lots of crying” on set during the emotional scenes in a candid chat with The Mirror.

She confessed that Huey helped her with script prompts throughout: “It’s so funny… every time I forgot a line, he’d tell me it.

“I’d go ‘Why do you know my lines? You’ve got enough of your own to learn!’”

The actress went on to say: “We filmed it one day, just the two of us on set. There was lots of crying… it was draining.

“There’s a lot for Huey to do in that episode so I was just so proud of him.”
