In a surprise to many I’m a Celebrity…viewers, the jungle’s late entry, Matt, shocked the nation with his appearance on the show.

After entering the main camp alongside comedian Seann Walsh, fans of the ITV series have seen him face his fears in plenty of Bushtucker Trials, attempt to learn to dance, and even sing a song at the Jungle Arms.

And it appears to be going down well with the viewing public, as since the vote-offs started, Matt has been saved.

He wrote in a column for The Sun: “While there will undoubtedly be those who think I shouldn’t go, I think it’s a great opportunity to talk directly to people who aren’t always interested in politics, even if they care very much about how our country’s run.”

Matt also revealed that he had a short career as a jockey while in the jungle, revealing he was trained by Frankie Dettori.

Comedian Seann Walsh asked: “Yesterday you said you were a jockey?’

Matt replied: ‘I rode in a race, yeah.’

Seann replied: “You’re up for anything!” as Matt said: ‘Two furlongs to go, pulled out, kicked on, won the race… it was absolutely brilliant.’

Matt is still legally married to his former partner Martha Hoyer Millar despite the breakdown of their marriage following his affair with his current partner Gina Coladangelo.

Matt and Martha married in 2006, and, after sixteen years of marriage, share a daughter and two sons.

The family lived in Little Thurlow in his West Suffolk parliamentary constituency, where Matt’s political career started.

At the end of July 2021, Matt was snapped collecting the last of his belongings from the family home following news of his affair.

Matt and his girlfriend Gina are still together following Matt’s separation from Martha in 2021.

The politician and Gina first met at Oxford University while volunteering at a student radio station.

He revealed on Dragons’ Den star Steve Bartlett’s podcast: “I’ve known Gina for more than half of my life, and we first actually worked together on student radio back in the Oxford days.

“So, we spent a lot of time together, ironically, trying to get me to be able to communicate in a more emotionally intelligent way.”

Their paths crossed again in 2020 when Matt hired Gina as a non-executive director at the Department of Health.

He resigned as health secretary a day after CCTV footage emerged of him embracing his aide Gina in 2021.

The politician was also forced to deny claims that he broke the government’s Covid drinking curfew, which was in place in Autumn 2020, after reports claimed that he had stayed in a bar beyond 10pm.

Matt also breached the government’s business appointment rules by not consulting the watchdog before appearing on this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

The politician makes his money as he is still a working MP and will continue to represent his constituents in West Suffolk, whom he has served since 2010, as an independent following his stint in the jungle.

His net worth will also have come from his work before becoming an MP.

Matt was first an economist and then became the economic advisor at the Bank of England before he entered the field of politics in 2005.
