Guests who recently appeared on Antiques Roadshow were left pleasantly surprised after they were given a surprising valuation on their hand painted family teapot.
Speaking to expert Will Farmer on the BBC show, the two sisters couldn’t believe their luck when they discovered that the unusual looking item was worth £800 to £1000.
Presenting the teapot- which appeared to have a woman’s face on it- one of the ladies said: “It belonged to our mum and it was always there as an ornament in our house, it wasn’t used, but it was kept on the shelf.”

Adding a touch of humour to the conversation, Will asked the women if they named the teapot.
The sisters laughed and replied: “We just called it The Fat Lady.”
Evaluating the teapot, Will continued: “Let me erase all of your life memories with this teapot because I would like to introduce you to ‘Bones The Butcher’.
“Bones The Butcher was created in 1928 in the potteries by a lady whose name you might have heard of.”
Discussing the famous ceramic artist, Clarice Cliff he said: “In 1928, Clarice started to work on a range of new wares that were called Kiddies ware, and it was actually created with a young lady called Joan Shorter.”
Providing more insight on the item, Will explained that the teapot was part of a set and a collaboration between Clarice and Joan, who was also the daughter of Clarice’s boss Collie Short.
He added: “Collie Short wanted [Joan] to work with Clarice to create some plates, pots, crockery, all things that children could use.”
Will then went on to share how much he believes the item is worth.

He said: “So we’ve got to look at the value and there is a little hairline crack just there at the top of the handle.
“Taking that into consideration, ‘Bones The Butcher’ is worth £800 to £1000.”
Looking at each other in disbelief, the sisters were clearly stunned and described the estimation that expert Will had given them as “unbelievable”.
