Jay Leno hit a police car as he made his return to the comedy stage after visiting a burns centre.
The American TV presenter returned to his slot at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach just a few weeks after suffering burns while working on a steam car.
Jay, 72, who hosted NBC’s The Tonight Show, drove up to the Californian venue with his wife Mavis when the back of his Tesla collided with a police Jeep in front of group of bystanders.

The comedian was filmed checking with police if he had “hit their tire”, with police saying it was “no big deal”, with no damage done to either of the cars.
The comedian, who was recently involved in a horrific burns accident after a vintage car exploded and set him alight, looked overjoyed as he addressed fans and the press.
On arrival, he introduced himself by saying: “Ah, the elephant man is here.”
He added: “I’m not stage yet, I just got here. We’ll give it a shot, let’s see what happens… Stay away from the Flamin’ Hot Doritos!
“No, we got two shows tonight. Regular and extra crispy! Never thought of myself as a roast comic! Thank you, thank you, goodnight. I got burned, I was in hospital for a few days, and now I’m back out working again. People do that every day!”
Jay had spent 10 days in the Grossman Burn Centre, where he had “skin grafts” as well as other surgeries to aid his severe injuries.

During his hospital stay, Jay was visited by Tim Allen, who joked his friend was “still handsome”.
Tim told TMZ as he left the hospital: “He’s good. It’s wonderful because he’s feeling better. I gave him some car magazines, and he did some jokes because that’s what we do.
“We commiserated and just connected as friends, it’s the one thing you can do.”
The accident happened on November 12 while Jay was working underneath one of the many vintage vehicles he owns that’s stored at his garage in Burbank.
