Orange Is The New Black and Lost star Brad William Henke dies aged 56

Actor Brad William Henke has sadly died aged 56, a source close to the star has revealed.

The Hollywood actor who starred in Orange Is The New Black is believed to have died in his sleep on Tuesday (November 29), reports Deadline.

It’s unclear what the cause of death was at present.

The American actor also starred in the hit series Justified and Lost and appeared in a number of films, including Pacific Rim and World Trade Center.

Before the actor found fame on the big screen, he played American Football at the University of Arizona and was drafted by the New York Giants and traded to the Denver Broncos.

He was born on April 10, 1966, in Columbus, Nebraska, and grew up in Littleton, Colorado.

Brad was best known for playing Desi Piscatella in the hit Netflix show Orange Is The New Black.

His character was a gay corrections officer at the penitentiary and featured a number of times between 2016 and 2018.

Brad’s part on the show saw him share a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2017.

The actor’s acting credentials include ER, Chicago Hope and Nash Bridges before he acquired his maiden recurring role in 2000 on WB series Nikki, where he starred as Nikki Cox until 2002.

Other guest appearances included spots on CSI, Crossing Jordan and Judging Amy before he landed a four-episode part in Dexter, where he played the role of a murder suspect-turned-near-victim.

Fans and industry pals have since taken to Twitter to share heartfelt messages following the announcement.

Casting director Jen Euston wrote: “This is a shock. rest well, Brad. Thank you for all the work you contributed on OITNB. You will not be forgotten.”

“One of those actors that was a pleasant surprise when they’d pop up in stuff. Will be missed. RIP Brad.” read one tribute.

“There are no words to describe this loss. We love you, Brad, and we always will, ” another heartbroken fan said.

Brad is survived by his mother, sister, wife, stepchildren and grandchild.
