BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty hits back as listener tells her 'not a fan'

Naga Munchetty sent a classy message to a listener who told the presenter they didn’t like her.

The BBC Breakfast host took to Twitter on Monday (December 5) to reveal she had an “amazing response” to a recent broadcast from her Radio 5 Live listeners.

Naga went on a night out with a group of female students in Leeds as part of a series on women’s safety during the BBC’s current safety campaign, 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

The BBC star interviewed young women in Leeds about their experiences and shed light on issues such as anxiety, drink spiking and male harassment.

Naga thanked fans for their support in a tweet which read: “We had an amazing response from listeners today – Thank you all for engaging with us @bbc5live.”

Letting people know they could listen back on BBC Sounds, she added: “Listen back on @BBCSounds 11am – 1pm.”

One fan replied to Naga’s tweet apologising to the broadcaster as they admitted they weren’t a fan of her.

However, they went on to explain that they listened to Naga’s female safety piece and was shocked by the terrifying experiences shared by the women.

It suggested she had taken a lot of value from Naga’s interviews with the ladies.

They wrote: “So sorry Naga, I’m not a fan of you, but I heard most of your interviews with Leeds young women today.

“They worry, rightly about drink spiking, general male harassment, feeling anxious – on a night out! Don’t want to wear a dress, in case it sends the wrong message. What! Xx.”

Rather than slam the listener after hearing they didn’t like her, Naga opted for a thoughtful response, letting the user know she appreciated them listening

She replied: “Fan or not, am glad you listened to what they were saying, even if you don’t empathise with all their experiences.”
