June Brown’s children are set to appear in a special episode of EastEnders, which will show her character Dot Cotton’s funeral and a reworked theme tune.
EastEnders boss Chris Kershaw revealed that June’s children, Sophie, Nim and Billy requested if they could feature in the episode dedicated to their mother’s beloved character.
Dot Cotton was a chain-smoking laundrette worker who first appeared on Albert Square in 1985.

Her last scene aired in 2020, where she left a voicemail for her family, stating that she’d gone to Ireland to visit her grandson Charlie.
June had told the show’s bosses that she didn’t want Dot to be killed off while she was alive.
Executive producer Chris revealed: “She did of course know that when she did leave us, it was the right thing to do.
“After some time, we couldn’t put it off much longer. We spoke to June’s family who knew it was what she would have wanted.”
It was only last week that Dot died in the show, almost two years after actress June’s departure.
Following her sad passing, EastEnders producers made the decision to kill off her character and have a special extended episode that will follow Dot’s funeral.
Giving more information about the special episode, Chris added: “June’s children Nim, Sophie and Billy knew what EastEnders meant to their mother, so much so they requested to attend Dot’s funeral to say their goodbyes. It was lovely for all involved.”
Old favourites from the show are set to return for the funeral scene, including Colin Russell (Lord Michael Cashman CBE), Barry Clark (Gary Hailes) and Dot’s step-granddaughter Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa).
June passed away last year at the age of 95.
She was surrounded by her family and left behind five children, whom she had with husband Robert Arnold.
