Strictly Katya Jones' life after co-star split – delayed divorce, no dates to best pals

Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones left the nation stunned when she was spotted locking lips with comedian Seann Walsh in 2018.

The unexpected smooch lead to heartbreak and upset and contributed to the breakdown of her marriage to Strictly pro dancer Neil Jones.

Meanwhile, Seann also faced backlash for the kiss and his relationship with his long term partner also came to an end as a result.

But since the controversial incident took place, Katya Jones has continued business as usual and has worked alongside her former husband on the spectacular BBC show.

Daily Star has taken a look at Katya’s life after her previous marriage woes.

Growing apart

Following on from her infamous kiss with comedian and dance partner Seann, Strictly pros Katya and Neil shocked the nation when they revealed that they had decided to split.

But although many thought the saucy smooch was to blame, Neil later revealed that they were naturally growing apart before the incident occured.

He told OK!: “We found that we’d grown apart like people do, so we were like, ‘OK, let’s go our separate ways’. We are lucky that we don’t have kids.

“It had nothing to do with what happened [with Seann].” He added: “We were moving in different directions but we are friends again now. Katya is a great girl and I’ve got nothing bad to say about her.”

Delayed divorce

Although Katya and Neil decided to part ways in 2019, a year later, Neil admitted that they hadn’t officially divorced despite everyone thinking they had.

Speaking to The Sun, professional dancer Neil said: “We’re still not divorced. It’s a thing we’re trying to sort out but we haven’t started the process yet,” he said.

He continued to explain: “A lot of the places are not working because of the coronavirus. Everything is on hold. But we’re not in any rush.”

Best friends

Katya and Neil have remained working side by side on Strictly despite their public split.

In October Katya revealed that her relationship with Neil has remained strong and she still considers him to be one her “best friends”.

Talking openly she expressed: “I absolutely still support him, we are best friends.

“I know him better than he knows himself. He can’t play poker around me, I know his face so well, it’s actually a joke.”

She added: “I still put him as my first of kin in medical records. His number is the only number I know off by heart!”

The dancer also revealed that she still has a strong relationship with Neil’s mother and considers her ex-partner’s family her family too.

No dates

Despite her split taking place some time ago Katya has admitted that she hasn’t dated anyone since her divorce.

However the star believes men could be intimidated by her due to her Strictly status.

Speaking to the Daily Mail she said: “They are that intimidated that they wouldn’t even take the first step. I mean my standards are high, I am not going to lie.

“I am not one to waste my time with pointless chat if there’s no substance to the conversation either.

“It would be nice to find love, I think it would be lovely, but I feel like men in the current, modern world are very fearful and it has proven to be very tough to find a relationship.

New relationships

Although Katya recently admitted to not dating anyone new, Neil can’t say the same.

Earlier this year, the Strictly dancer hit headlines when it was discovered that he is currently dating Love Island bombshell Chyna Mills.

Discussing their blossoming romance in September a source said: “Neil and Chyna looked very loved up and completely relaxed in one another’s company.

“It’s a new relationship and Neil probably wanted to do something special as they won’t be able to spend as much time together when the Strictly training sessions start.”
