Whoopi Goldberg made an urgent request to Dame Maggie Smith live on BBC’s The One Show.
Thy Hollywood star turned to face the cameras and spoke to Maggie directly on Friday night (December 9) during an interview on The One Show.
The BBC chat show had only just kicked off when Whoopi paused proceedings and told hosts Alex Jones and Gethin Jones that she ‘needed to do something’.

It’s because the American actress was so desperate for Maggie to reprise her role as Mother Superior in the highly-anticipated Sister Act 3 film.
It’s clear she felt a live TV plea gave her the best possible chance of finally getting through to Maggie in the hopes that she would accept her offer.
The Ghost actor, 67, said: “Maggie Smith. We have this new script. If you will do it, I want you to please do it. If you say no, or ‘I’m not thinking about coming over there’, I will come over here and shoot whatever you want if you say yes.
She finished with a heartfelt declaration to the veteran actress: “I love you.”
Whoopi had just confirmed that Sister Act 3 is coming and that she’s read the script, but it’ll need tweaks here and there so it can get better.
Host Alex decided to help Whoopi out with the Sister Act reboot when she told Maggie: “Right, Dame Maggie Smith. If you’re watching, just email the show. We can pass the message on…”

Whoopi cut in, adding: “Well she’s got my email. She knows what to do!”
Maggie and Whoopi starred together in the first two Sister Act films which have since become classic comedies, but the third is in development for Disney+.
Whoopi played lounge singer Deloris Wilson who is forced to join a convent after being placed in witness protection, whereas Maggie played the strict Reverend Mother.
The last time Whoopi appeared as Deloris – Sister Mary Clarence – was 27 years ago in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.
