EastEnders’ Jean Slater star Gillian Wright has supported by co-stars and fans while sharing some exciting career news.
Taking to Instagram this week, Gillian, 62, who is best known for portraying Stacey Slater’s mum Jean in the BBC One soap, shared a career update.
Posting in the Queen Victoria pub holding a glass gong, the Bermondsey born actress spoke of how her “spirits were lifted” as she gushed over her win.

Smiling widely and writing an upbeat caption to match, Gillian’s fans were overjoyed also.
“What a lovely thing to have happened,” the Jean actress exclaimed in the caption.
She added: “Thank you TVTimes viewers for your votes for the show and for me! What a present! Lifted our spirits!”
On the glass award she held, it had “Favourite Soap Star” engraved on the front, along with Gillian’s name and the name of the soap.
Gillian has portrayed Jean Slater – who lives with bipolar disorder – since 2007.
Fans of the beloved star and fellow co-stars were quick to flock to the comments section to congratulate Gillian.
“Definitely worthy of a sausage surprise to celebrate! Congrats,” penned one fan.
While another said: “It’s about bleeding time. I was campaigning for so long for you to be recognised. I just don’t know how they didn’t see your talent years ago.”
And a third added: “Well deserved. You’re an amazing actress.”
Elsewhere in the comments, Gillian’s EastEnders’ co-stars were quick to send their love and support.

Heather Peace, who portrays Stacey’s “wife” Eve Unwin in the soap, simply left a red heart emoji, a flame emoji and then a two hands in the air emoji.
And on the other post that was a simple graphic announcing the news, Heather added: “Thoroughly deserved. I love working with you Gill.”
Gurlaine Kaur Garcha, who plays Ash Panesar in the soap, simply penned: “Congratulations Gill!!! xxxx.”
While former Lauren Branning star Jacqueline Jossa liked the post.
