Gogglebox's Abbie Lynn shares glimpse of real job away from Channel 4 show

Gogglebox star Abbie Lynn has shared a glimpse of her working life away from the show.

The 21-year-old joined the cast of the Channel 4 programme in 2018 alongside her best pal Georgia Bell and has kept viewers entertained with her hilarious anecdotes on Friday nights.

But fans may be surprised to know that when she’s not filming the popular TV programme, Abbie works in the financial industry as a credit control clerk.

Abbie joined her company as an apprentice in 2019 and has worked her way up the ranks to her current position.

Taking to Instagram, the reality star shared a glimpse of her work snacks for the festive season and secret Santa gifts.

Filming a table filled with presents, Abbie also held up a glass and captioned the image: “Christmas in the finance department.”

Although Abbie lives a fairly low-profile life away from the show, in October the star posted snaps of her rarely-seen family that never appear on Gogglebox.

Jumping on the viral “just you and your dad” trend, Abbie took the opportunity to post a rare snap of a selfie with her dad.

To support themselves, the majority of the cast of Gogglebox have jobs outside the show.

During filming periods, the families are expected to commit to 12 hours of filming a week across two six-hour shifts.

As a result of this, most of the Goggleboxers film in between working full-time or part-time jobs.

Earlier this year The Sun revealed that each Gogglebox family is paid £1,500 every month for their time on the show which they then share out between themselves.

In addition to their cash sum, they get a free takeaway of their choice to keep their energy levels up while filming.

In 2015, the show’s creator Stephen Lambert discussed the casting process and how they choose families for the show.

He said: “Everybody on Gogglebox has been found and persuaded to be on the show and I think that’s the key to why they are likeable and why the show works, because we get to know these people.”

He added: “We’ve never advertised for people on Gogglebox.”
